March 19, 2014 – Day 9 - Today was a big day for
E. She had her IV taken out and
doesn’t require the bilirubin light any longer (although they’ll check her bilirubin
levels tomorrow to confirm she is doing well without it). E also had her feedings increased to 24ml
every three hours and her oxygen levels decreased which means she is moving
towards breathing on her own. She is
doing a little bit more each day – opening her eyes more and looking around and
sucking on her pacifier. Last night we gave
her a sponge bath which was definitely not her favorite. I loved holding her outside the isolette
while her bedding was changed. She lost
a bit of weight at her last weigh in, but we’re hopeful she’ll be back up to
her birth weight soon!
